Bolívar, (initially called Angostura) capital of
the Bolívar State, was founded in the year of 1764
and baptized thereafter with the name of Ciudad Bolívar
in honor to the Liberator. Ciudad Bolivar is one of the
most significant cities in Venezuela. The historic district
has been declared a National Historical Monument for its
architecture and the importance of the events that happened

Bolivar declares the "Guerra a Muerte" (War
to Death) to the Spanish Wreath and installs the Congress
of Angostura in which pronounces a speech with a high
moral, social and political content. In this Congress
was created the Gran Colombia (nation composed by the
current republics of Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and
Panama). Ciudad Bolivar offers to the visitor the tranquility
and captivation of an era that will never return, its
construction date from the year 1766 and they are many
the constructions that preserve their original structure.
This place is ideal to take a rest before continuing the
trip especially for those that travel to Canaima, The
Gran Sabana, Mount Roraima, and to the Delta of the Orinoco
River. |

Quinta San Isidro (where was staying the Liberator during
his visits), the House of the Congress of Angostura, Correo
